Our mission

At the School of Earth Exploration and Discovery (SEED: Harlem), we create a vibrant and nurturing community where students are excited to learn, explore, and discover their unique place in our interconnected world. Our school uniform reflects our pride, our respect for ourselves and others, and our commitment to creating a focused learning environment.”

SEED Harlem is a uniform school, and all students are expected to be in full uniform every day. While specific guidelines are set out in the manifest, it is important that students understand and follow not only the rules, but the spirit and standards of professional dress.

    Shirts

    2 issued to new students

    Grades 6 & 7 wear the official SEED Harlem teal-colored golf shirt. Grade 8 may choose either the official teal or the official gray SEED Harlem golf shirt, and receives one complimentary gray shirt.

    Insignia

    A new SEED Harlem logo has been introduced. Students may wear shirts with either the old or the new logo.

    Pants

    Family supplied

    Black or khaki slacks — no joggers, cargo pants, jeans, leggings or sweatpants. Pants must be worn at the waist and be clean, neat and professional in appearance. Pants are not provided by the school and should be purchased from a vendor of your choice.

    Outer layer

    Distributed later this year

    Only the school-sanctioned sweatshirt is permitted. All other sweatshirts, hoodies or outerwear are not allowed to be worn inside the school building.

    Accessories & head coverings

    Accessories should be simple and consistent with the professional spirit of the uniform. Head coverings are permitted for religious reasons. Bandanas, scarves, bonnets, hats, durags and hoods of any kind are not permitted inside the building.

    If a student is out of uniform

    Students may be required to change or call home for proper attire, be issued a uniform loaner item if available, receive a uniform violation notice, and be subject to follow-up from school staff.
